Brent Chicken joined the firm in 2006 with two years of natural resources litigation, transactional, and title examination expertise. A graduate of the University of Denver Sturm College of Law, Brent practices commercial litigation, with a special emphasis on real property issues. He also represents clients in administrative matters involving United States federal agencies, Colorado, Wyoming and Montana oil and gas regulatory bodies, and county-level boards, commissions, and councils.
In addition to litigation, Brent provides support for Beatty & Wozniak’s clients who request transactional experience regarding option, joint operating, unitization and pooling agreements, as well as the preparation of drilling, lease acquisition and division order title opinions. Brent also provides clients with real property interest instruments, including oil and gas leases, deeds, assignments of royalty, working and overriding royalty interests, and related title-curative documents. He closely follows trends and changes in the law regarding mineral and surface rights, federal, state and county energy regulation, and developing mineral access technologies.
Brent is the 2008-2009 President of the Denver Association of Oil and Gas Title Lawyers, a member and periodic faculty member of the Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation, and an active member of the Denver Association of Petroleum Landmen. Brent is licensed to practice law in both federal and state courts in Colorado, Wyoming, and Montana. A self-described “movie buff,” Brent lives in Denver with his wife, Rebecca, their dog, Eve, and their two sugargliders, Dungaree and Matilda. Brent enjoys cooking, snow sports, mountaineering, and reading fiction. |
