James Parrot joined Beatty & Wozniak as an associate in 2012. He approaches his practice with a commitment to business-oriented solutions for his clients, and focuses on the preparation of title opinions and upstream transactional issues. He is a member of the state bars of Colorado, Wyoming and North Dakota, and brings with him five years of oil and gas title examination experience. He began his oil and gas career as an attorney-landman with a comprehensive land services company in Denver, where he examined title, performed due diligence for multi-million dollar acquisitions and divestitures, and drafted numerous upstream transactional agreements. James later joined a boutique law firm in Denver, where he honed his skills examining title and preparing drilling, division order, acquisition, and financing title opinions.
James graduated cum laude from the University of Notre Dame with a double major in Political Science and Japanese. James’ undergraduate studies took him to many different countries throughout the world, where he began to understand the critical importance of a robust domestic energy industry. He went on to graduate from the University of Denver College of Law, where he was a Chancellor’s Scholar, and focused on natural resources law.
In his spare time, James is active with a local nonprofit that serves at-risk youths, and enjoys hunting, fishing, backcountry skiing, and woodworking.
