Matt's practice is concentrated in access to and resource development on public and Indian lands, transactions involving those lands, federal administrative practice and litigation, and environmental law.
Prior to becoming a lawyer, Matt was as an environmental scientist and project manager at a top-ranked engineering firm, representing private, federal, state and local government interests in various environmental matters across the western United States. During law school, Matt interned at the United States Department of Justice’s Environment and Natural Resources Division in Washington, D.C., where he worked in the division’s Environmental Enforcement Section.
He is a member of the Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation, the American Association of Professional Landmen, the Utah Association of Professional Landmen, Federal Bar Association, Utah State Bar, Colorado Bar Association, Wyoming State Bar and State Bar Association of North Dakota.
Matt earned his J.D. from the University of Wyoming’s College of Law in 2002 and was inducted to the National Order of Barristers. He is admitted in the state and federal courts of Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, and North Dakota, and at the Tenth Circuit. Matt was named by Utah Business Magazine as a “Legal Elite” for Energy and Natural Resources in 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009. |
