Marcus Martin has a broad range of trial, litigation and appellate experience in federal and state courts throughout the United States. Prior to joining Beatty & Wozniak in 2007, Marcus had a national litigation practice. He has twenty years of experience representing energy, mining and chemical companies in a wide range of commercial litigation including multi-party, complex and class action litigation. In recent years, Marcus has focused on trial practice for energy companies in the western United States. In 2008, he won a complete defense verdict after trial for a major Houston-based public energy company in Colorado state court regarding an oil and gas dispute in the Wattenberg Field.
Marcus also has over fifteen years of experience in environmental litigation, including claims under CERCLA, RCRA, TSCA, Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, and natural resources damages (NRD) and their state counterpart laws. Marcus has been involved in federal and state court litigation and regulatory proceedings in over twenty states in the United States. Marcus also has extensive experience in defending clients against environmental toxic tort and related personal injury and property damage claims, both class actions and individual proceedings, arising from alleged exposures to chemicals from current and former manufacturing operations in numerous jurisdictions throughout the United States. He also has experience in antitrust, patent and environmental insurance recovery litigation.
Marcus earned his J.D. from the University of Iowa with honors. He was an editor of the Iowa Law Review. Marcus is admitted to practice in Colorado and Illinois.
Marcus lives in Boulder, Colorado with his wife and three boys. |
