After graduating in 2009, David began working as a contract landman assisting in due diligence projects for acquisitions and divestitures as well as researching title in Utah and Wyoming.
David joined Beatty & Wozniak, P.C.’s Utah office in 2010. Today, David’s practice is primarily focused on complex mineral title examination for fee, Federal, State and Indian lands in Utah, North Dakota, Colorado and Wyoming and representing clients before the Utah Board of Oil, Gas and Mining in matters ranging from the creation of spacing units to flaring authorization and anything in between. David also represents operators dealing with a wide array of surface access issues. In that role, David advises and assists clients with negotiating and drafting surface use agreements, easements and rights-of-way as well as eminent domain litigation when necessary.
David has significant experience preparing title-curative documents and has represented numerous mineral owners in the successful resolution of title issues and disputes through the probate process.
Represent oil and gas companies in eminent domain actions to obtain surface access for the drilling of wells, installation of pipelines and related facilities.
Represent oil and gas companies before the Utah Board of Oil, Gas and Mining for spacing, pooling and flaring requests
Served on the Utah Surface Owner Protection Act rule-making committee as an industry participant with the Utah Division of Oil, Gas and Mining in the development of administrative rules implementing the Act in 2012.
Represent oil and gas companies in the drafting and negotiation of leases, surface use agreements, easements and rights-of way.
