OVERVIEW

 

Ms. Sanchez brings nearly 20 years of experience helping clients in all phases of acquisition, development and operation of properties in the oil and gas/natural resources industry. Licensed to practice in Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, North Dakota and Wyoming, states where natural resources play a leading role, Ms. Sanchez has a deep understanding of federal, state and local laws and regulations, key industry stakeholders, and local market factors that drive transactions and litigation. She serves as day-to-day industry counsel for clients on issues that face oil and gas companies, particularly on matters related to exploration and production and mineral title examination. Her oil and gas title examination practice focuses on the preparation of comprehensive acquisition, drilling and division order title opinions for fee, state and federal lands throughout the Rocky Mountain region.

 

An industry scholar-author, each year Ms. Sanchez writes the chapter on federal royalties in the Law of Federal Oil and Gas Leases, the chapter on Oil and Gas for the Colorado Bar Association and is a regularly appearing contributor to the legal column in the Denver Association of Petroleum Landmen newsletter. She is frequently sought to research and write industry papers for and speak at conferences of the Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation.

 

SELECT EXPERIENCE

Oil and Gas

  • Representing oil and gas companies in all phases of acquisition, development and operation of oil and gas properties.

  • Preparing comprehensive acquisition, drilling, drilling and division order title opinions for fee, state and federal lands throughout the Rocky Mountain region.

  • Conducting title due diligence portion of $250 million and $135 million acquisitions of oil and gas real property and leasehold interests in Colorado.

  • Representing oil and gas exploration company clients as local counsel in the execution of mortgages, deeds of trust and financing statements for lending and acquisition purposes encumbering oil and gas leasehold interests covering fee, state and federal lands in Colorado, Kansas and Wyoming.

  • Drafting and negotiating oil and gas leases, assignments of oil and gas leases and assignments of overriding royalty interests.

  • Preparing saltwater disposal well agreements, surface and subsurface use agreements, joint operating and farmout agreements.

  • Preparing title curative instruments: stipulations of interest, declarations of pooling, ratifications of oil and gas leases, subordination agreements, instruments of conveyance and probate documents.

  • Counseling clients regarding rules and regulations of the Colorado and Wyoming Oil and Gas Conservation Commissions for conducting operations on fee, state and federal lands.

  • Representing mineral lessees in obtaining water change of use decree from agricultural to industrial use.

  • Representing corporation in acquisition of saltwater disposal facility.

  • Preparing saltwater disposal well agreements.

  • Counseling clients on water supply projects.

  • Representing solar development corporation in the acquisition of water rights for use in development and operation of 40 MWac solar photovoltaic project.

  • Representing commercial feedlot in acquisition of water rights for the operation of feedlot.
