Beatty & Wozniak, P.C. | Joby Rittenhouse Oil & Gas Attorney Denver

Joby joined Beatty & Wozniak, P.C. as an associate in 2017 after practicing in the Denver office of Steptoe & Johnson PLLC, and his practice focuses primarily on regulatory and litigation matters.

Joby attended Colorado College as a Boettcher Scholar and played varsity football, subsequent to which he pursued a master’s degree at the Colorado School of Mines.  While at Mines, Joby became increasingly exposed to the role oil and gas has had both nationally and also within the state of Colorado.  Joby ultimately attended law school at the University of Denver, and upon graduation, Joby worked at Noble Energy, Inc. as a division order analyst before moving into private practice.

Joby has assisted operators with issues pertaining to state and local regulatory compliance issues, land agreement contracts, and provided legal guidance regarding disputes that have not yet escalated to the point of litigation.  In addition, Joby has represented E&P companies in Colorado, North Dakota, and Wyoming in civil actions and provided representation before city and county governments. He has successfully obtained approval for more than 100 requests for relief pertaining to drilling and spacing units, increased well density, reduced setbacks, statutory pooling, and unitization in Colorado and Wyoming. Joby represents clients before state regulatory bodies for contested matters related to horizontal wellbore spacing units, APD approvals, unconventional resource units, and enhanced recovery operations as well as providing assistance in obtaining variances and exceptions to state regulations. Joby has also represented multiple clients in the preparation and/or review of drilling and division order title opinions as well as in drafting, revising, and complying with terms of rig contracts and joint operating agreements.
