Elizabeth Odell
Of Counsel
Mineral Title Examination & Due Diligence

Elizabeth “Betsy” Odell’s focus for Beatty & Wozniak is title examination, due diligence, and transactional support for clients developing energy assets across federal, state, and private lands. A former landman and in-house counsel for a major energy company, Betsy approaches her work with practical insight and a clear understanding of what clients need to advance their business objectives.
After starting her career as a field landman in the early 1980s, Betsy sought to expand legal knowledge and earned her law degree while working in the legal department at Amoco Production Company. She went on to serve in Amoco’s land department, managing lease acquisitions, due diligence reviews, and contract negotiations.
At Beatty & Wozniak, Betsy’s practice includes determining mineral, surface, and leasehold ownership, reviewing transactional title, negotiating industry agreements, and advising on regulatory compliance. She has also worked on helium development and innovative approaches to surface use in energy operations. Her in-house and field background gives her a well-rounded, common-sense perspective that clients trust.
Betsy was honored by the Denver Business Journal as one of the “Top Women in Energy,” recognizing her longstanding contributions to the field.
