Biography

Jacob joined the Beatty & Wozniak team in August 2024 and is an Associate (pending) in the Federal Practice Group. Prior to pursuing a career in energy law, Jacob spent ten years working for upstream and midstream oil and gas operators in every major basin within the U.S., serving in a regulatory advisor role.

While attending Sturm College of Law at the University of Denver, Jacob specialized in oil and gas, renewable energy, water, and natural resource law. Jacob also served as a Senior Staff Editor on the Water Law Review. Jacob attended the University of Denver while obtaining an M.S. in Environmental Policy prior to law school. A native of Hobbs, New Mexico, Jacob attended the University of the Southwest while obtaining an M.B.A. in Strategic Planning and B.S. in Biology.

Jacob’s interest in energy law stems from his roots growing up in the EnergyPlex of New Mexico, Lea County, which serves as a hub for all types of energy. A lifelong learner, Jacob enjoys the complexity of tackling legal matters that encompass energy, resource development, and regulatory compliance. With Jacob’s unique perspective of industry insider and legal advisor, he provides both practical and innovative solutions to the myriad of issues that energy companies face.

Outside of the practice of law, Jacob is a family man and father of two daughters, an avid fly fisherman, a seasoned hatch green chile hunter, and spends time between his home State of New Mexico and his adopted State of Colorado.
