Before becoming an attorney, Gillian spent more than a decade in the energy industry in operational, land, management, and executive roles. That experience gives her a firsthand understanding of the commercial pressures, operational demands, and regulatory issues her clients manage every day, allowing her to deliver advice that is both strategic and grounded in business operations.

As the lead in-house counsel for an energy company, Gillian advised executives and operational teams on high-value transactions, commercial agreements, infrastructure projects, regulatory matters, operational risk management, and litigation strategy. She supported strategic energy transactions exceeding $1.3 billion in combined value, managed outside counsel, and negotiated complex agreements, giving her the judgment and business insight clients value when navigating significant opportunities and challenges.

Gillian’s experience working closely with field personnel, business teams, landowners, regulators, executives, and outside counsel allows her to connect legal strategy to operational and commercial realities. Clients benefit from counsel that is practical, responsive, and aligned with business objectives.

Gillian advises on upstream and midstream energy development and operations, infrastructure and facility agreements, joint operating agreements, regulatory compliance, title and due diligence matters, acquisitions and divestitures, commercial contracting, vendor and master service agreements, operational risk management, dispute resolution, and strategic energy transactions. She also has experience supporting emerging energy sectors, including solar and helium development.
